A Weekend Getaway at Boracay

A Weekend Getaway at Boracay

Every hardworking body deserves to take a break. Though, taking a break would sometimes (or most of the times) be equated to the word “impossible” for a barkada, well, ehem! Not this time! 🙂

My barkada is engaged in different industries, so to take advantage of our once-in-a-blue-moon-no-conflict-scheds, we made sure that all of us will give our fast forward lives a pause and hold on to our sanity. So, last July 2-4, me and my friends decided to take a luxurious break at Boracay Island. Well, nothing beats a sea-meets-the-sky-getaway plus the fact that it was an all-expense-paid-trip. Heheh In short, nilibre lang ako ng bonggang-bongga! What more can you ask for? Not to mention that it was my first time in Boracay. Yup! You heard it right! First Time ko po. 😉

How To Get There:
We took the first flight of AirPhilExpress to Caticlan at around 5:20 am. After less than an hour, we landed at Caticlan Airport. And oh!our private shuttle was already there waiting to bring us to the Fairways.

After a couple of minutes, our private speedboat was already there at the port. That was the exact time when I realized that I am starting to love this Boracay Trip. Ay naman! Para naman kaming VIP! 😀

Orayt, after that exclusive speedboat ride(hmm..it does not really make any difference at all..hehe aside from the fact na pwede kang mag-picture galore as a proof na ikaw lang ang nakasakay dun w/ your shades and your tourist hat on 😛 ), another shuttle brought us to Boracay Regency.

Just like what I have mentioned a while ago, this was an ALL-EXPENSE-PAID-TRIP so I really wont be able to share to you the details of the accomodation rates, etc. Right after we put our things in Room 204 and 210 of Boracay Regency Resort, we decided to take a walk and see the famous Boracay Beach.

To be honest, the first time I saw the beach.. ahmm.. I just told myself, “Ahh, ito na pala yung Boracay.” That kinda-bitter reaction was of course brought to you by my Calaguas hangover again. Naisip ko tuloy, maybe if I visited Boracay before I saw the beauty of Calaguas Island, maybe I was still the same me, na basta makakita ng dagat eh ‘good beach’ na talaga for me. I was really not that excited to take a dip, so I just decided to stroll the long stretch of weedy-cigarette-butt-full-sand of Boracay instead. 😛 (Don’t get me wrong I am not an antagonist in a Boracay’s success story, I just think that it has been so overrated that it is the best beach here in the Philippines, there’s really a lot of good white pristine beaches here in our country that we need to discover and promote to the public at the same time).

Though frustrated w/ the Boracay Beach, i needed to flash a smile for a Kodak moment. 🙂

Then, my friend came up with this bright idea..yeah! A very very bright idea, that we would never regret in our lives. Tsenenen! – To look for Jonah’s Fruitshake! 🙂 We never heard of it before, but when she mentioned that she just read it on one of the blogs, a resounding “Sige” (w/c in English “Lesgow Sago!” tama ba?) came out of my mouth. Kinda interesting since bloggers really feature the best of the locals.

Ampf! You just really have to be careful in finding for Jonah’s Fruitshake. Dahil matatalino lang sa spelling ang nakakahanap nito. 😛 Coz on our way to our destination, we encountered a lot of fruitshake stores – there’s this Joan’s, John’s, at kung ano-ano pang klaseng pangalan na mabubuo mo from “Jonah’s”. Maybe, it was also because of the heat of the sun and the thirst we were feeling that somehow, somewhere in that walk, we almost gave up and thought na “baka typographical error lang yan sign nila, Jonah’s talaga.”

Soon after we almost got dehydrated..At last..we found the treasure. Weeheeehoo!Alam niyo yung feeling na you’re so proud of yourselves, na ang tali-talino niyo??Haha! That’s what we felt when we discovered the heavenly treasure of Jonah’s Fruitshake.

So we drowned ourselves to the different flavors of not just simply thirst-quenching of Jonah’s but oooh..the best fruitshake I ever tasted.

What To Do’s and Where To Go in Boracay:
We spent our first afternoon in Boracay looking for what we can do in Boracay at the cheapest rate. Boracay is really bombarded w/ a lot of commercialized activities. You can go Parasailing, Paraw Sailing, Scuba Diving, Jetskiing, and Reefwalking-slash-Helmet-Diving. Don’t be shocked if you’re gonna be approched by a lot of men while you are walking, anyways, it’s not because of your bikini or your sexy body, men will continuously approach you because of the products/services they offer. Hmm.. anyways, I got this Rayban Shades I am wearing for P75.00 only and this tourist hat(w/c I only borrowed from my friend) for P200.

Di ba? Turistang-turista??!

So the search was on!

On our search for the Mamang Bangkero 2010, we met Kuya Ely (contact nos. 09301506270) who gave us the cheapest rate and the most amiable smile. We took his offer for a reef walk for P500.00 and an island hopping tour for P1600.00.

After our huggle marathon, we went to Mt. Luho, the highest point in Boracay Island. We took a tricycle for P150/6 pax. Not bad, right?

The usual fare will be P10.00 only from station to station(Station1,Station2,and Station3).

Most of the tricycle drivers will really charge you P150.00 and above to Mt. Luho since the road there is really steep.

Some choose to rent an ATV or the Bug/Beetle Ride(as what they call it). It will be for P400 per hour.

I did not rent this ATV though. I think it’s too expensive.hehe

There was an entrance fee as well for P50 each. There in Mt. Luho, you can enjoy a 360 degrees view of the island; the best spot for you to watch those people who’s doing the parasailing thing.

the spot where we witnessed how parasailing starts and ends.. .. we ended up not doing it 😛

Our next stop was Alta Vista. Alta Vista de Boracay is an exclusive hotel located on a hilltop at Station 1. It is surrounded by good views of the island. The rooms are really good, but the most remarkable in Alta Vista is their breathtaking infinity pool. Yes, it is the most beautiful infinity pool I have ever seen, it shares a breathtaking view of the mountain and the sea of the island.

Next stop was Discovery Shores. Well, the resort was really a first class type. But I was not really able to get a good look of it, as far as I can remember, I was just so busy chatting w/ my friends that this was where Tuesday and her husband got married w/ their so kilig personalized vows.

Actually, we just passed by Discovery Shores. Yep, of course, there was a shortcut from the main street to the shore. And whoah! I shouted with glee. I ran and called my friends, this what we witnessed when we got out of Discovery Shores.

Ooooh!Amazing Sunset in Boracay.

And oh! I really cant get over it. From that day on, if you’re going to ask me ‘Where’s the Best Sunset?’, definitely it’s Boracay’s. That was also the first time I went swimming. Yeah, the beach might not be as good as Calaguas, but it got the best sunset anyways. I love it! I loved how the different colors reflected on the water I am swimming at. Different feeling though. It was also so nice to be out there on the water just watching the long stretch of the now-alive Boracay Island. Yeah! It’s night time! It was a magical feeling for me.

Great article and photos, but heads up, there's a campaign in Boracay to stop people calling it “Bora”. The locals want to keep the name as Boracay, to avoid confusion with Bora Bora in French Polynesia.

I actually see that campaign in one of the travel blogs too. But We were not able to see any campaign like that when we were there. I think they need to do it more intensively so everyone will be aware of that campaign. And thank you, you told me the reason behind the campaign, sure I am going to mention it on my next post about Boracay. 🙂
