10 Rules to Win a Traveler's Heart: A Confession of a Hopeless Romantic, No More

I’ve been trying to write about love for 3 weeks now. (Seems like everyone needs to be mushy and all every February, so I tried to give in) But I don’t know why, I am lost for words when it comes to matters of the heart.

To be honest, I am supposed to be writing why people should date a traveler. I had a hard time, swear! I tried to read some good romantic articles so that at least I’ll be inspired and convince people to date me, I mean, a traveler. But it was an epic fail. Maybe, I just need to write about what’s going on inside my heart.

Not all travelers want a date anyways.

The following is my one-on-one interview with my ‘busilak’ heart. Please read, it’s her first time to talk after almost a year. (Well, I hid her inside my cabinet so no one can touch and break her again; I took her out just for 10 mins) 🙂

10 Rules to Win a Traveler’s Heart

1. Don’t ask her to be feminine and be on the sexiest clothes. She’ll be cold dead if she’ll do that.

She just cant wear your favorite lingerie while she’s on top… of a mountain. Understand.

Her shoes are not Prada. They aren’t for hiking.

2.
Don’t ask her to go and have some coffee at Starbucks. She’ll hate you for that.

She’ll be happier to take a sip of fresh buko juice at a public beach resort somewhere.

3. She likes to write and take pictures, encourage her.

4. Be prepared to jump off a cliff or a bridge sometimes. She loves the thrill.

Jump with her. You’ll make her sooo proud!

5. Don’t ask her to eat in the newly opened, or most expensive fine dining resto in the metro. It’s a big turn off.

She loves eating, hmmm… the nomad style.

6.
Don’t get jealous. She doesn’t have time to flirt. Just trust her.

She prefers to meet genuine people. 🙂

Dont get jealous if you learned that she’s somewhere else, and hugging someone… it’s her fave dog in Baguio.

Dont freak out and try to confront her if she keeps on talking about the BIG bird she loved playing with over the weekend.
She’s talking about the Philippine Eagle.

7.
Smile even it seems that she’s more excited and happy about the latest Seat Sale than the bouquet of flowers you just bought. Understand, a cheap travel vs a bouquet of flowers? I bet you know the answer.

Happiness 😀

8. Don’t give her expensive jewelries. She doesn’t need the spark of those little things. She’ll be more happy to receive a headlamp instead. That’s more sparky! 🙂

9. Don’t give up. She might not be talking about Love or if she is happy when you two are together but the fact that she talks and shares her happiness everytime she sees the skies and the mountain, whoo! She loves you, she just really have a lot of happy stories to share.

10. Don’t cheat on her. Travelers are independent and free. She went out of her way to be attached. Breaking her heart is too much. She loves deep. Love her.

Hmmm… so that’s it! belated Happy Valentines to all.

At this point of my life, I’m not chasing true love or whatsoever mushiness you want to call it. I’d rather chase happiness and Philippines. Let’s all love ourselves. 🙂

P.S. You might just change her mind.

Hhhhhm!!!, so if your a travelers partner and she dosent apriciate expensive jewelries for now. I can keep the jewelries for her, I promise to return it when her bones are no longer solid as the rock that she climbs. when her hands can no longer hold on them and the only recourse is to ware them. If you need a break from her non stop stories of her adventurouse travel, you can give me a ring for a candlelight dinner on a newly open resto in the metro. I promise to listen till her endurace can no longer contain her curiosity. When her strenght can only lift a spon full of dinner

@ Rey,that's so sweet… hope there are still a lot of people like that who respect and love one another unconditionally… people who's willing to wait till everything will be okay and perfect for the two of them… people who's willing to let his/her partner to fly and chase her dreams without leaving her… i hope someday, love is still true.

  4. I can totally relate to don't buy her jewelry. I hate losing stuff on the road and I've lost plenty already. I can't even imagine getting an engagement ring, let's use all the money to travel the world instead!
